Adjustment



  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheel and tire assembly.
  4.  
  5. Adjust rear drum brake shoe clearance.
  6.  
  7. Install rear wheel and tighten the lug nuts to 76 ft. lbs. (103 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Check parking brake lever travel:
    1. Pull the parking brake lever all the way up, and count the number of clicks. The proper parking brake lever travel is 6 to 9 clicks at 196 n (44.1 lbs.)

  11. If necessary, adjust the parking brake lever travel:
    1. Remove the console box hole cover.
    2.  
    3. Remove the console box carpet.
    4.  
    5. Remove the rear console box.
    6.  
    7. Turn the wire adjusting nut until the lever travel becomes within specifications.
    8.  
    9. Tighten the lock nut to 48 inch lbs. (5.4 Nm).

  1. Remove the rear wheel.
  2.  
  3. Adjust parking brake shoe clearance, as outlined in this section.
  4.  
  5. Install rear wheel and tighten the lug nuts to 76 ft. lbs. (103 Nm).

  7. Inspect parking brake lever travel:
    1. Pull the parking brake lever all the way up, and count the number of clicks. Parking brake lever should travel 6 to 9 clicks at 196 n (44 lbs).

  9. Adjust parking brake lever travel, as follows:
    1. Remove the console box.
    2.  
    3. Loosen the lock nut and turn the wire adjusting nut No.1 until the lever travel becomes correct.
    4.  
    5. Tighten the lock nut to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
    6.  
    7. Install the console box.
