Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine coolant into a suitable container.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the inlet and outlet radiator hoses.
  6.  
  7. If equipped with an automatic transaxle, disconnect the oil cooler inlet and outlet hoses.
  8.  
  9. Remove the radiator grille.
  10.  
  11. Remove the front bumper cover.
  12.  
  13. Remove the 3 bolts, clip and hood lock assembly.

  15. For the xA, remove the 2 bolts, clip and the hood lock support.
  16.  
  17. For the xB, remove the 5 bolts, and then remove the hood lock support brace.
  18.  
  19. Remove the 2 clips and radiator support opening cover.
  20.  
  21. Remove the upper radiator support, as follows:
    1. Disconnect the connector from the horn .
    2.  
    3. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the condenser from the upper radiator support.
    4.  
    5. Remove the 4 bolts and the upper radiator support.

  23. Remove the radiator , as follows:
    1. Disconnect the connector from the cooling fan motor, and then remove the radiator from the engine compartment.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 3 bolts and detach the fan shroud with fan.
    4.  
    5. Remove the 2 bolts and water filler.
    6.  
    7. Remove the 2 radiator support cushions and radiator support lower.

To install:

  1. Install the radiator , as follows:
    1. Install the 2 radiator support cushions and radiator support lower onto the radiator.
    2.  
    3. Install the water filler with the 2 bolts and tighten to 66 inch lbs. (7.5 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Install the fan shroud with fan with the 3 bolts and tighten to 66 inch lbs. (7.5 Nm).
    6.  
    7. Install the radiator , and attach the connector to the cooling fan motor.
    8.

  3. Install the upper radiator support:
    1. Install the radiator support upper with the 4 bolts and tighten to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Install the condenser onto the radiator support upper with the 2 bolts and tighten to 7.2 ft. lbs. (9.8 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Attach the connector to the horn .
    6.

  5. Install the hood lock support brace with the 5 bolts and tighten to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Temporarily install the hood lock with the 3 bolts, then the clip.
  8.  
  9. Adjust the hood.
  10.  
  11. Install the front bumper cover.
  12.  
  13. Add the proper type and amount of engine coolant.
  14.  
  15. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  16.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine coolant into a suitable container.
  4.  
  5. Remove the right side engine under cover.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the radiator inlet and outlet hoses.
  8.  
  9. If equipped with an automatic transaxle, disconnect the oil cooler inlet and outlet tubes.
  10.  
  11. Remove radiator , as follows:
    1. Detach the 2 cooling fan motor connectors.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the 2 clamps for the engine room main wire.

    5. Disconnect the radiator reserve tank hose.
    6.  
    7. Remove the 2 bolts and the 2 radiator upper supports, then remove the radiator from the vehicle.

  13. Remove the radiator lower support.
  14.  
  15. Remove fan shroud, as follows:
    1. Remove the 2 bolts.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 2 pawl fittings, then remove the fan shroud together with motor.

To install:

  1. Install fan shroud and tighten the retainers to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the radiator lower support.
  4.  
  5. Install the radiator , as follows:
    1. Install the radiator with the 2 bolts and 2 radiator upper support. Tighten to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Connect the radiator reserve tank hose.
    4.  
    5. Connect the 2 clamps of the engine room main wire.
    6.  
    7. Connect the 2 cooling fan motor connectors.
    8.

  7. Connect oil cooler outlet and inlet tubes, if equipped with an automatic transaxle.
  8.  
  9. Connect the radiator hoses
  10.  
  11. Refill the engine cooling system to the correct level.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14.  
  15. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  16.  
  17. Install the engine under cover.
  18.
