Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least 90 seconds before proceeding to disarm the SRS system.
  2.  
  3. Make sure the vehicle-s front wheels are facing straight ahead
  4.  
  5. Remove horn button/air bag unit, as follows:
    1. Place the front wheels facing straight ahead.
    2.  
    3. Using a Torx® socket wrench (t30), loosen the 2 Torx® screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.

    5. Disconnect the horn connector.
    6.  
    7. Remove the horn button from the steering wheel and support the horn button with your hand as shown in the accompanying illustration.
      WARNING
      When removing the horn button, do NOT pull the airbag wire harness.

    9. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the horn button connectors.
    10.  
    11. Remove the horn button.
      WARNING
      When storing the horn button/air bag unit, always keep the upper surface of the pad facing upward. Never disassemble the horn button .

  7. Remove the steering wheel as follows:
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2.  
    3. Remove the steering wheel set nut.
    4.  
    5. Matchmark the installed position of the steering wheel and main shaft.
    6.  
    7. Use a suitable puller to remove the steering wheel from the shaft.

To install:

  1. Install the steering wheel as follows:
    1. Align the matchmarks with the one on the steering wheel and steering main shaft .
    2.  
    3. Install the steering wheel with the set nut and tighten to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Attach the connector.
    6.

  3. Install the horn button in the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten the screws to 88 inch lbs. (7.8 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable, turn the ignition ON , then make sure the SRS warning light blinks and then goes out.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least 90 seconds before proceeding to disarm the SRS system.
  2.  
  3. Make sure the vehicle-s front wheels are facing straight ahead
  4.  
  5. Remove horn button/air bag unit, as follows:
    1. Place the front wheels facing straight ahead.
    2.  
    3. Using a T30 Torx® socket wrench, loosen the 2 Torx® screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.

    5. Pull out the horn button from the steering wheel and support the horn button with your hand as shown in the illustration.
      WARNING
      When removing the horn button, do not pull the airbag wire harness.

    7. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the horn button connectors.
    8.  
    9. Disconnect the horn connector.
    10.  
    11. Remove the horn button and position it aside in a safe place

  7. Remove steering wheel as follows:
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    2.  
    3. Remove the steering wheel set nut.
    4.  
    5. Matchmark the installed position of the steering wheel and main shaft.
    6.  
    7. Use a suitable puller to remove the steering wheel.

To install:

  1. Install the steering wheel as follows:
    1. Align the matchmarks with the one on the steering wheel and steering main shaft .
    2.  
    3. Install the steering wheel with the set nut and tighten to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Attach the connector.
    6.

  3. Install the horn button, as follows:
    1. Support the horn button with your hand.
    2.  
    3. Connect the horn button connectors.
    4.  
    5. Connect the horn connector.
    6.  
    7. Confirm that the circumference groove of the Torx® screw fits in the screw case, and place the horn button onto the steering wheel .
    8.  
    9. Using a Torx® socket wrench (T 30), install the 2 screws and tighten to 78 inch lbs. (8.8 Nm).
    10.

  5. Connect the negative battery cable, turn the ignition ON , then make sure the SRS warning light blinks and then goes out.
  6.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least 90 seconds before proceeding to disarm the SRS system.

    3. Pull out the horn button from the steering wheel and support the horn button with one hand as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE
      When removing the horn button , do not pull the airbag wire harness.

    5. Detach the horn connector.
    6.  
    7. Detach the connectors from the horn button .
      WARNING
      When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    9. Remove the horn button /air bag unit.

  7. Remove the steering wheel as follows:
    1. Remove the steering wheel set nut.
    2.  
    3. Matchmark the steering wheel to the main shaft.
    4.  
    5. Using a suitable puller, remove the steering wheel.
    6.

To install:

  1. Install the steering wheel as follows:
