1.5L Engine



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the accessory drive belt.
  8.  
  9. Support the engine with a suitable jack.
  10.  
  11. Remove the right-hand engine mount.
  12.  
  13. Using Special Tool 09960-10010, remove the water pump pulley.
  14.  
  15. Remove the water pump and gasket.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Install the water pump with a new gasket. Tighten the bolts and nuts to 96 inch lbs. (11 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Using Special Tool 09960-10010, install the water pump pulley and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install or connect the following:

    Right-hand engine mount
     
    Accessory drive belt
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  6.  
  7. Refill the cooling system to the correct level.
  8.  
  9. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  10.  

2.4L Engine



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Right-hand front fender apron
     
    Engine undercover
     
    Accessory drive belt
     
    Alternator
     

  6.  
  7. Using Special Tool 09960-10010, remove the water pump pulley.

  8.  
  9. Remove the water pump assembly.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the water pump with a new gasket. Tighten to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Using Special Tool 09960-10010, install the water pump pulley and tighten to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install or connect the following:

    Alternator
     
    Accessory drive belt
     
    Engine undercover
     
    Right-hand front fender apron
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  6.  
  7. Refill the engine cooling system to the correct level.
  8.  
  9. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  10.
