Windshield Wiper System

Wiper Motor



Removal & Installation
  1. Remove the front wiper arm head cap
  2.  
  3. Remove the wiper arms:
    1. Operate the wiper and stop the windshield wiper motor assembly at the automatic stop position.
    2.  
    3. Remove the left wiper arm.
    4.  
    5. Remove the right wiper arm.
    6.

  5. Remove hood to cowl top seal using a clip remover, disengage the 8 clips and remove the hood to cowl top seal.
  6.  
  7. Remove the clip, 5 claws, bolt and left cowl top ventilator louver.
  8.  
  9. Remove the clip, 5 claws, bolt and right cowl top ventilator louver
  10.  
  11. Remove windshield wiper motor & link as follows:
    1. Disconnect the connector of the windshield wiper motor.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 2 bolts.
    4.  
    5. Slide the wiper link assembly to vehicle-s passenger side. Disengage the meshing of the rubber pin and remove the windshield wiper motor & link assembly.

  13. Remove windshield wiper motor as follows:
    1. Using a prytool, disengage the meshing of 2 rods at the crank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor assembly.

    3. Remove the 2 Torx® bolts and windshield wiper motor.

To install:

  1. Install windshield wiper motor as follows:
    1. Install the windshield wiper motor assembly to the windshield wiper link assembly with the 2 Torx® screws and tighten to 66 inch lbs. (7.5 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Apply grease to the crank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor assembly.
    4.

  3. Install windshield wiper motor & link assembly in the reverse of the removal procedure.
  4.  
  5. Install the front wiper arm & blade assemblies:
    1. Operate the wiper, and stop the windshield wiper motor at the automatic stop position.
    2.  
    3. Scrape off the serrated part of the wiper arm with a round file or equivalent.
    4.  
    5. Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush.
    6.  
    7. Install the front wiper arm & blade assemblies with the nut in the position shown in the illustration. Tighten the nut to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).
      NOTE
      Hold down the arm hinge by hand in order to fasten the nut.

  1. Remove the windshield wiper arm cover
  2.  
  3. Remove the wiper arm & blade assemblies.
  4.  
  5. Remove hood to cowl top seal:
    1. Using a clip remover, disconnect the 5 clips and remove the hood to cowl top seal.
    2.

  7. Remove cowl top ventilator louvers from each side, as follows:
    1. Using a clip remover, remove the 4 clips.
    2.  
    3. Disengage the 5 claws and remove the cowl top ventilator louver.
    4.

  9. Remove windshield wiper motor & link assembly, as follows:
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 3 bolts and the windshield wiper motor & link.

  11. Remove windshield wiper motor assembly, as follows:
    1. Using a prytool, disconnect the 2 rods at the crank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor assy.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 3 bolts and the windshield wiper motor assembly.
    4.

To install:

  1. Install windshield wiper motor as follows:
    1. Install the windshield wiper motor with the 3 bolts and tighten to 47 inch lbs. (5.4 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Apply mp grease to the crank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor.
    4.  
    5. Install the 2 rods to the windshield wiper motor.
    6.

  3. Install windshield wiper motor & link assembly, as follows:
    1. Install the windshield wiper motor & link assembly with the 3 bolts and tighten to 47 inch lbs. (5.4 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Attach the connector.
    4.

  5. Install the wiper arm & blades, as follows:
    1. Operate the wiper, and stop the windshield wiper motor in the automatic stop position.
    2.  
    3. Scrape off the serration part of the wiper arm with a round file or equivalent.
    4.  
    5. Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush.
    6.  
    7. Install the front wiper arm & blade with the nut in the position as shown in the illustration. Tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
      NOTE
      Hold the arm hinge by hand to fasten the nut.

    8.  
    9. Operate the wiper while running water or washer fluid over the window, and check the wiping condition and that the rear wiper does not hit against the vehicle-s body.

  1. Remove front wiper arm head caps
  2.  
  3. Remove the nuts (one for each wiper), then remove the wiper arm and blade assemblies.
  4.  
  5. Disengage the 8 clips, and remove the hood to cowl top seal.
  6.  
  7. Disengage the 5 claws and 2 clips, and remove the cowl top ventilator louver.
  8.  
  9. Remove windshield wiper motor & link assembly, as follows:
    1. Detach the connector.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 4 bolts and windshield wiper motor & link assembly.
    4.

  11. Remove the wiper link as follows:
    1. Using a prytool, carefully separate the rod of the wiper link assembly from the windshield wiper motor as shown in the illustration.

    3. Turn the crank arm of windshield wiper motor by hand to the position shown in the illustration.

    5. Remove the 3 bolts and wiper link assy.
    6.

To install:

  1. Install wiper link assembly, as follows:
    1. Install the windshield wiper motor with the 3 bolts. Tighten to 47 inch lbs. (5.4 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Turn the crank arm of the windshield wiper motor by hand to the position shown in the illustration.

    5. Apply Denso no.50 grease to the crank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor assy.
    6.  
    7. Install the rod to the wiper link assy.
    8.

  3. Install windshield wiper motor & link assembly, as follows:
    1. Install the windshield wiper motor & link assembly with the 4 bolts an tighten to 47 inch lbs. (5.4 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Attach the connector.

  5. Install the wiper arm & blade assemblies as follows:
    1. Operate the wiper, and stop the windshield wiper motor at the automatic stop position.
    2.  
    3. Clean the wiper arm serrations.
    4.  
    5. Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush (when reinstalling).
    6.  
    7. Install the wiper arm & blade with the nut at the position as shown in the illustration. Tighten the nut to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
      NOTE
      Hold the arm hinge by hand to fasten the nut.
