Bleeding The Master Cylinder



In-Vehicle

NOTE
While bleeding, pay attention to master cylinder fluid level.


NOTE
Before working, disconnect connectors of ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) or the battery negative terminal if equipped.

  1. Connect a vinyl tube to the rear right bleed valve.
  2.  
  3. Fully depress brake pedal 4 to 5 times.
  4.  
  5. With brake pedal depressed, loosen bleed valve to let the air out, and then tighten it immediately.
  6.  
  7. Repeat steps 2, 3 until no more air comes out.
  8.  
  9. Tighten bleed valve to specified torque.
    1. Front Disc Brake-2.0L engine & SE-R

      Bleed Valve 69 inch lbs. (7.85 Nm)

    3. Front Disc Brake-SE-R SPEC-V

      Bleed Valve 74 inch lbs. (8.34 Nm)

    5. Rear Disc Brake

      Bleed Valve 74 inch lbs. (8.34 Nm)
       

    6.  
    7. Rear Drum Brake

      Bleed Valve 70 inch lbs. (7.9 Nm)

  11. Following the steps 1 to 5 above, with master cylinder reservoir tank filled at least half way, bleed air from the rear right, front left, rear left, and front right brake, in that order.
