Transaxle Removal & Installation

WARNING
If transaxle assembly is removed from the vehicle, always replace CSC. Return CSC insert to original position to remove transaxle assembly. Dust on clutch disc sliding parts may damage CSC seal and may cause clutch fluid leakage.


NOTE
When removing components such as hoses, tubes/lines, etc., cap or plug openings to prevent fluid from spilling.

  1. Remove clutch tube from CSC. Refer to Clutch in the Transaxles Section.
    NOTE
    Do not depress clutch pedal during removal procedure.

  2.  
  3. Remove engine and transaxle assembly. Refer to Engine in the Engine Mechanical Section.
  4.  
  5. Remove starter motor. Refer to Starter in the Engine Electrical Section.
  6.  
  7. Remove transaxle assembly to engine bolts.
  8.  
  9. Separate transaxle assembly from engine.
  10.  

To install:


NOTE
If transaxle assembly is removed from the vehicle, always replace CSC. Refer to Clutch in the Transaxles.


NOTE
When installing the transaxle assembly to the engine, use the specified tightening torque.

NOTE
When installing transaxle assembly, never allow the transaxle input shaft to make contact with the clutch cover.

  1. Install transaxle assembly to engine.
  2.  
  3. Install transaxle assembly to engine bolts.
  4.  
  5. Install starter motor. Refer to Starter in the Engine Electrical Section.
  6.  
  7. Install engine and transaxle assembly. Refer to Engine in the Engine Mechanical Section.
    NOTE
    Do not depress clutch pedal during removal procedure.

  8.  
  9. Install clutch tube to CSC. Refer to Clutch in the Transaxles Section.
    NOTE
    Bleed the air from the clutch hydraulic system. Refer to Clutch in the Transaxles Section.


    NOTE
    After installation, check oil level and check for leaks and loose mechanisms.
