Crash Zone Sensor

Removal & Installation




WARNING
Before servicing the SRS, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect both battery terminals and wait at least three minutes.


NOTE
Do not attempt to disassemble the crash zone sensor.


NOTE
Do not use old nuts after removal; replace with new nuts.


NOTE
Replace the crash zone sensor if it has been dropped or sustained an impact.


NOTE
Check crash zone sensor to make sure it is free of deformities, dents, cracks or rust. If it shows any visible signs of damage, replace it with a new one.

  1. Disconnect both the negative and positive battery terminals, then wait at least three minutes.
  2.  
  3. Remove front grille, refer to Grille in the Body Section.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect crash zone sensor harness connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove crash zone sensor nuts, then remove the crash zone sensor from the radiator core support.

    Fig. Disconnect crash zone sensor harness connector (1). Remove crash zone sensor nuts (A), then remove the crash zone sensor (2) from the radiator core support (3).

To install:


NOTE
After the work is completed, perform self-diagnosis to check that no malfunction is detected. Refer to Diagnostics Section.

  1. Install crash zone sensor nuts, then install the crash zone sensor to the radiator core support.
  2.  
  3. Connect crash zone sensor harness connector.
  4.  
  5. Install front grille, refer to Grille in the Body Section.
  6.  
  7. Connect both the negative and positive battery terminals, then wait at least three minutes.
