Side Air Bag (Satellite) Sensor

Removal & Installation




WARNING
Before servicing the SRS, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect both battery terminals and wait at least three minutes.


NOTE
Do not attempt to disassemble the side air bag (satellite) sensor.


NOTE
Do not use old nuts after removal; replace with new nuts.


NOTE
Replace the side air bag (satellite) sensor if it has been dropped or sustained an impact.


WARNING
Check side air bag (satellite) sensor to make sure it is free of deformities, dents, cracks or rust. If it shows any visible signs of damage, replace it with a new one.

  1. Disconnect both the negative and positive battery terminals, then wait at least three minutes.
  2.  
  3. Remove front seat belt retractor. Refer to Seat Belt Systems in the Body Section
  4.  
  5. Disconnect side air bag (satellite) sensor harness connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove side air bag (satellite) sensor nuts, then remove side air bag (satellite) sensor from the center pillar.

To install:


NOTE
After the work is completed, perform self-diagnosis to make sure no malfunction is detected. Refer to Diagnostics Section.

  1. Install side air bag (satellite) sensor nuts, then install side air bag (satellite) sensor to the center pillar.
  2.  
  3. Connect side air bag (satellite) sensor harness connector.
  4.  
  5. Install front seat belt retractor. Refer to Seat Belt Systems in the Body Section.
  6.  
  7. Connect both the negative and positive battery terminals, then wait at least three minutes.
