Crankshaft Front Seal

Removal & Installation



2.0L Engine

Specific to:

Nissan Sentra 2007-2012

  1. Remove front timing cover.
  2.  
  3. Carefully pry out old seal.
  4.  
  5. Using a suitable tool, press-fit the new seal until it is flush with the front of the cover. Make sure the seal is straight and not curled.

2.5L Engine

Specific to:

Nissan Sentra 2007-2012

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle and remove the right front wheel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the engine under cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the drive belts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
  8.  
  9. Carefully pry the front oil seal from the front cover. Be careful not to scratch front cover or crankshaft.

To install:

  1. Apply new engine oil to new oil seal and fit it into place with the longer lip towards the outside of the engine.
  2.  
  3. Press the seal straight in using an appropriately sized drift. Make sure the garter spring in the oil seal is in position and seal lip is not inverted.
  4.  
  5. Install crankshaft pulley and toque the bolts to 31 ft. lbs. plus an additional 60°.
  6.  
  7. Installation of the remaining components is in reverse order of removal.
