Removal & Installation

WARNING
Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Serious burns could occur from high pressure coolant escaping from the radiator.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the air duct and air cleaner.
  6.  
  7. Remove the upper radiator hose, heater hoses and throttle body hoses.
  8.  
  9. Remove the water outlet and remove the water control valve from the cylinder head.
  10.  
  11. To install, fit a new rubber ring on the water control valve.
  12.  
  13. Fit the valve into the cylinder head with arrow on outer face pointing up. The valve frame should be vertical.

  15. Fit a new gasket and install the outlet onto the cylinder head.
  16.  
  17. Reconnect the hoses using new O-rings, gaskets and copper washers as needed.
  18.  
  19. Fill the cooling system.
  20.  
  21. After installation, run engine for a few minutes and check for leaks.
