Possible Causes:



A MAP sensor that is stuck at BARO, or is 40 kPa lower than desired while under boost, will cause this DTC to set. Use a scan tool and compare the MAP Sensor parameters to a known good vehicle. Operate both vehicles under various conditions.

Possible Causes:



An intermittent CKP sensor signal may cause DTC P0336 to set. Wiggle the wiring harness with the engine running and observe the CKP Sensor Pulses Missed parameter on the scan tool. If the parameter indicates anything other than 0, there is an intermittent condition.
 
Inspect for insufficient fuel.

Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Performance

Possible Causes:



An intermittent CKP sensor signal may cause DTC P0336 to set. Wiggle the wiring harness with the engine running and observe the CKP Sensor Pulses Missed parameter on the scan tool. If the parameter indicates anything other than 0, there is an intermittent condition.
 
Inspect for insufficient fuel.
 

Trouble Code: P0340



Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Circuit

Possible Causes:



An intermittent CMP sensor signal may cause DTC P0340 or P0341 to set. Wiggle the wiring harness with the engine running and observe the Cam Signal Missed parameter of the scan tool. If the parameter indicates anything other than 0, there is an intermittent condition.
 
If the CMP sensor signal is lost while running, the engine will operate normally. If the CMP sensor signal is not present on start-up, the engine will not start.
 

Trouble Code: P0341

An intermittent CMP sensor signal may cause DTC P0340 or P0341 to set. Wiggle the wiring harness with the engine running and observe the Cam Signal Missed parameter of the scan tool. If the parameter indicates anything other than 0, there is an intermittent condition.
 
If the CMP sensor signal is lost while running, the engine will operate normally. If the CMP sensor signal is not present on start-up, the engine will not start.

Possible Causes:



An intermittent CMP sensor signal may cause DTC P0340 or P0341 to set. Wiggle the wiring harness with the engine running and observe the Cam Signal Missed parameter of the scan tool. If the parameter indicates anything other than 0, there is an intermittent condition.
 
If the CMP sensor signal is lost while running, the engine will operate normally. If the CMP sensor signal is not present on start-up, the engine will not start.

Wait To Start Lamp Control Circuit

Possible Causes:



Using the Failure Records data may help locate an intermittent condition. If you cannot duplicate the DTC, the information in the Failure Records can help determine how many miles since the DTC set. The Fail Counter and Pass Counter can help determine how many ignition cycles that the diagnostic test reported a pass and/or a fail. The wait to start indicator illuminates only with the ignition ON and the engine OFF. The wait to start indicator will not illuminate during post-start glow plug operation. The wait to start indicator will not stay ON for long at higher engine temperatures.

The Fail Counter and Pass Counter can also help in determining the number of ignition cycles that the diagnostic test reported a pass and/or fail. Operate the vehicle within the same Freeze Frame conditions, including those for RPM, for engine load, for vehicle speed, for temperature, and for others. This will isolate at what point the DTC failed. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

The Fail Counter and Pass Counter can also aid in determining the number of ignition cycles that the diagnostic reported a pass and/or fail. Operate the vehicle within the same freeze frame conditions, i.e. RPM, engine load, vehicle speed, temperature, etc. This will isolate when the DTC failed.

Ensure the VSS is correctly torqued to the transmission housing.

Possible Causes:



Aftermarket trailer brake controllers must be disconnected before diagnosing DTC P0504 due to they could result in incorrect diagnostics.

Possible Causes:

Inspect for any of the following conditions:



A crankcase overfill can cause oil to be forced through the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system.
 
An outside source that has allowed oil or fuel to enter the air induction system.
 
An aftermarket performance kit using an external fuel source.
