Belt Driven Fans



Diesel Engines

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the radiator shroud.
  4.  
  5. Locate the yellow dot on the fan clutch hub and matchmark the water pump pulley.
  6.  
  7. Remove the drive belt, if necessary.
  8.  
  9. Remove the fan clutch-to-water pump pulley nuts and lift out the fan/clutch assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the fan clutch bolts and separate the fan from the clutch.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Install the fan on the fan clutch and tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Position the fan/clutch assembly on the water pump pulley so that the reference marks on each hub align. Tighten the nuts to 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the fan shroud.
  6.  
  7. Connect the battery cable.
  8.  

Gasoline Engines
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the radiator fan shroud.
  4.  
  5. Remove the drive belt, if necessary.
  6.  
  7. Remove the four fan clutch-to-water pump pulley nuts and lift out the fan/clutch assembly.

  8.  
  9. Remove the fan clutch bolts and separate the fan from the clutch.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the fan on the fan clutch and tighten the bolts to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Position the fan/clutch assembly on the water pump pulley. Tighten the nuts to 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the fan shroud.
  6.  
  7. Connect the battery cable.
  8.  

Dual Electric Fans



  1. Remove the cooling fan and shroud.
  2.  
  3. Remove the cooling fan blade retainers.
  4.  
  5. Remove the cooling fan blades.

To install:


NOTE
The electric cooling fan assembly uses a 5-blade fan and a 7-blade fan, it does not matter which side the fan blades are installed on. DO NOT install two 5-blade assemblies or two 7-blade assemblies, as this would cause a noise issue.

  1. Install the cooling fan blades.
  2.  
  3. Install the cooling fan blade retainers.
  4.  
  5. Install the cooling fan and shroud.
  6.
