  1. Remove or disconnect the following:

    2 / 3 of the brake fluid from the master cylinder
     
    Tire and wheel assembly
     

  2.  
  3. Using a C-clamp or the equivalent, compress the caliper piston until the caliper piston bottoms in the bore.

    Brake hose at caliper by removing the inlet fitting bolt. Plug the line.

  5. Inspect the caliper assembly.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

  3. Perform the following procedure before installing the caliper guide pin bolts (1500 series only).
    1. Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch.
    2.  
    3. Clean the threads of the bolt with brake parts cleaner or the equivalent and allow to dry.
    4.  
    5. Apply Red Loctite® #272 to the threads of the bolt.
    6.

  5. Install or connect the following:

    Caliper mounting bolts. On 2005-06 models and 2007 Classic, tighten the caliper guide pin bolts to 31 ft. lbs. (42 Nm) on the 1500 series; 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm) on the 2500 series. On 2007 models except Classic, tighten them to 28 ft. lbs. (38 Nm) on 6 bolt hubs and 80 ft. lbs. (108 Nm) on 8 bolt hubs.
     
    Brake hose at the caliper by installing the inlet fitting bolt. Tighten the bolt to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).

  7. Bleed the brakes.

  9. Refill the brake master cylinder to the proper level with fresh brake fluid.
