Possible Causes:

The ECM detects that the difference between the actual mass air flow and the desired mass air flow is less than a calibrated value for greater than 15 seconds when the EGR is active.

The ECM detects an electrical malfunction on an EGR motor control circuit.
 
The above condition is present for more than 4 seconds.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Temperature Sensor 1-2 Correlation

Possible Causes:



DTCs P040C, P040D, P041C or P041D are not set.
 
The ECM detects a temperature difference of between 32-99°C (89.6-210.2°F) between EGR temperature sensors 1 and 2 for 3 seconds or longer.
 
This DTC runs once per key cycle when the above conditions are met.
 
OR
 
DTCs P040C, P040D, P041C, or P041D are not set.
 
The ECM detects a temperature difference of greater than 99°C (210.2°F) between EGR temperature sensors 1 and 2.
 
The vehicle is driven greater than 25 mph (40.2 kph) for greater than 10 minutes.
 
This DTC runs once per key cycle when the above conditions are met.

Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System Incorrect Air Flow Detected

Possible Causes:



AIR pump relay has failed
 
AIR pump has failed
 
AIR solenoid relay has failed
 
AIR solenoid valve has failed
 
Test or inspect the AIR solenoid valve outlet pipe and exhaust manifold for a restriction
 
Air injection check valve

Air leaks at the exhaust manifold or in the exhaust pipes
 
Base engine problems (i.e., high engine oil or coolant usage)
 
Catalytic converter is damaged, contaminated or has failed
 
Continuous engine misfire conditions, or weak or low coil output
 
Front HO2S or rear HO2S is contaminated with fuel or moisture
 
Rear HO2S is loose in the mounting hole (check it for a leak)
 
TSB 81-65-37 contains a repair procedure for this code

Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) Sensor Intermittent

Possible Causes:



P0454
 
If, during the engine-off natural vacuum small leak test, P0442, the ECM detects an abrupt FTP signal change, other than a refueling event, this DTC will set. An abrupt change is defined as a change of 0.45 inch H2O in the span of 1 second.

Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Large Leak Detected

Possible Causes:



Fuel filler cap is very loose, missing or the wrong part
 
Fuel tank, fuel filler neck or fuel sending unit 'O' ring is leaking
 
Fuel tank pressure sensor is damaged, disconnected or it failed
 
Fuel tank vapor line(s) is clogged, damaged or disconnected
 
Purge valve vapor line is clogged, damaged, or disconnected
 
Purge solenoid is not opening (it may be damaged or sticking)
 
Vent solenoid is not closing (it may be damaged or sticking)
