Belt Driven Fans



4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L & 6.0L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the radiator fan shroud.

  7. Remove the drive belt, if necessary.
  8.  
  9. Install the cooling fan removal tool. Remove the cooling fan from its mounting.
  10.  
  11. Separate the cooling fan from the clutch assembly, as required.

To install:


NOTE
Be sure to use new fasteners, as required.

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the fan clutch bolts to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Tighten the cooling fan nut to 41 ft. lbs. (56 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the fan shroud.
  8.  
  9. Connect the battery cable.
  10.  

Dual Electric Fans



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  5. Remove the cooling fan and shroud.
  6.  
  7. Remove the cooling fan blade retainers.
  8.  
  9. Remove the cooling fan blades.
