Upper Control Arm

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  6.  
  7. Support the lower control arm with a jack or jack stand.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the electronic suspension control link connector, if equipped.
  10.  
  11. Remove the brake hose retaining bolt and wheel speed sensor bolt, as required.
  12.  
  13. Remove and discard the ball joint nut.
  14.  
  15. Use a ball joint separator tool and separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle.
  16.  
  17. Remove the upper control arm retaining bolts and alignment cam.
  18.  
  19. Remove the component from its mounting.

To install:


NOTE
Be sure to use new fasteners, as required.

  1. Position the upper control arm to its mounting.
  2.  
  3. Install the retaining bolts and alignment cam. Tighten to 140 ft. lbs. (190 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  6.  
  7. Check and adjust the front end alignment, as required.
