Radio Programming & Setup

Specific to:

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2008

Using the GM diagnostic scan tool, or equivalent, refer to the on-screen reprogramming directions and perform the radio programming and setup procedure.

The radio setup files will configure the radio amplifier (if equipped), internal equalization settings and programming of the VIN number. Without the following setup procedure, the sound quality and volume of the radio may be degraded.

If exchanging the same type radio from one vehicle to another, the VIN from the vehicle receiving the radio needs to be reprogrammed, using the scan tool.

For base radio, use the VIN program procedure available in the Special Functions menu of the scan tool. After programming the VIN cycle the ignition key with the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is disabled.

For uplevel radios, refer to Service Programming System (SPS) information.
