Lower Control Arms

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the tire and wheel.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the lower control arm.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the shock module from the lower control arm.
  10.  
  11. Separate the rear adjustment link from the suspension knuckle. DO NOT loosen the adjustment jamb nut..
  12.  
  13. Remove the lower control arm ball joint nut.
  14.  
  15. Using the appropriate tool, separate the lower control arm ball joint from the knuckle.
    NOTE
    Mark alignment adjusting cams for installation.

  17. Remove the lower control arm nuts.
  18.  
  19. Remove the adjusting cams.
  20.  
  21. Remove the lower control arm to frame bolts.
  22.  
  23. Remove the lower control arm.

To install:

  1. Install the lower control arm.
  2.  
  3. Install the lower control arm to frame bolts.
  4.  
  5. Install adjusting cams and control arm nuts.
    NOTE
    Install cams in original location previously marked.

  6.  
  7. Tighten the lower control arm nuts to 122 ft. lbs. (165 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the lower control arm ball joint stud in the knuckle.
  10.  
  11. Install the lower control arm ball joint retaining nut to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm). plus an additional 135°
  12.  
  13. Reconnect the shock module to the lower control arm.
  14.  
  15. Reconnect the stabilizer link to the lower control arm.
  16.  
  17. Install the tire and wheel.
  18.  
  19. Lower vehicle.
  20.  
  21. Check wheel alignment.
  22.
