Removal & Installation



Wiper Motor
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove wiper blades.
  4.  
  5. Remove wiper arm caps.
  6.  
  7. Carefully remove the washer hose from the spray nozzle in the air inlet panel prior to removing the wiper arm.
  8.  
  9. Remove wiper arms
    NOTE
    A slight up and down motion applied near the hinge point on the wiper arm will release the arm from the wiper pivot shaft.

  10.  
  11. Remove the air inlet grille panel.

  13. Disengage the Connector Positive Assurance (CPA) clip from the wiper motor electrical connector.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the wiper motor electrical connector from the wiper motor.
  16.  
  17. Unbolt the wiper drive system module.
  18.  
  19. Remove the wiper drive system module.

  21. Remove wiper motor mounting bolts.
  22.  
  23. Use the J 39232 Wiper Linkage Separator, or equivalent to separate the transmission arm from the wiper motor crank arm pivot.

  25. Use the J 39529 Wiper Linkage Installer, or equivalent to install the transmission arm onto the wiper motor crank arm pivot.
  26.  
  27. Install wiper motor mounting bolts and tighten to 40 inch. lbs. (4.5 Nm)
  28.  
  29. Tighten windshield washer system module bolts to 80 inch. lbs. (9 Nm).
  30.  
  31. Reconnect the wiper motor electrical connector from the wiper motor.
  32.  
  33. Engage the CPA clip from the wiper motor electrical connector.
  34.  
  35. Install the air inlet grille panel and retainers.
  36.  
  37. Install wiper blades.
  38.  
  39. Install wiper arms and hold the wiper arm blade into position on the windshield blackout voids when applying torque to the nut.
  40.  
  41. Tighten the wiper arm nuts to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).
  42.  
  43. Install the wiper arm caps.
  44.  
  45. Reconnect the washer hose to the spray nozzle.
  46.  
  47. Check wiper operation and adjust if needed.
