Hydraulic Control Module

Removal & Installation




NOTE
Store the Hydraulic Control Unit in an upright position only.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable at the battery. The ignition switch must be switched to the off position when disconnecting the battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the multiplug from the control module.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the brake lines from the hydraulic control unit. Mark the brake lines for reinstallation, also seal off the connections and lines to prevent contamination.
  6.  
  7. Remove the hydraulic control unit from the bracket.
  8.  
  9. Check the rubber mounts on the bracket. (Replace if necessary)
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the hydraulic control unit into the rubber mounts.
  2.  
  3. Reconnect the brake lines to the hydraulic control unit. Do not mix up the brake lines. Tighten the lines to 142 inch lbs. (16 N·m).
  4.  
  5. Reconnect the multiplug to the control module.
  6.  
  7. Reconnect the ground cable on the battery.
  8.  
  9. Bleed the brake system.
  10.  
  11. Check the fluid in the reservoir and correct if necessary.
  12.  
  13. Perform function test.
  14.  

  1. Disconnect the ground cable at the post near the accelerator.
  2.  
  3. Install the brake pedal winch.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ABM module.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the brake lines from the hydraulic control unit. Mark the brake lines for reinstallation, also seal off the connections and lines to prevent contamination.
  8.  
  9. Remove the hydraulic control unit from the rubber mounts.
  10.  
  11. Check the rubber mounts (Replace if necessary).
  12.  
  13. Remove the HCU from the vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Remove the ABM if needed
  16.  

To install:


NOTE
If the ABM module is being replaced with a new ABM module it must be reprogrammed with the use of a scan tool.

  1. Install the ABM to the HCU if removed.
  2.  
  3. Install the hydraulic control unit into the rubber mounts.
  4.  
  5. Reconnect the brake lines to the hydraulic control unit. Do not mix up the brake lines. Tighten the lines to 124 inch lbs. (14 N·m)
  6.  
  7. Reconnect the electrical connector to the ABM module.
  8.  
  9. Reconnect the ground cable on the post next to the accelerator pedal.
  10.  
  11. Remove the brake pedal winch.
  12.  
  13. Check the fluid in the reservoir and correct if necessary.
  14.  
  15. Bleed the brake system.
  16.  
  17. Perform function test using a scan tool.
  18.
