Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the center bezel from the instrument panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the two screws that secure the A/C-heater control to the instrument panel.
  6.  
  7. Pull the A/C-heater control away from the instrument panel far enough to access the connections on the back of the control.
  8.  
  9. Mark and disconnect the two control cables from the A/C-heater control.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the two wiring harness connectors from the A/C-heater control.
  12.  
  13. If A/C-heater control is to be replaced, remove the two mounting brackets from the A/C-heater control.
  14.  

To install:

  1. If removed, install the two mounting brackets to the A/C-heater control.
  2.  
  3. Connect the two wire harness connectors into the back of the A/C-heater control.
  4.  
  5. Connect the two control cables to the A/C-heater control.
    NOTE
    Install the control cable of bottom adjustment lever to the front adjustment wheel of the A/C-heater control.

  6.  
  7. Position the A/C-heater control into the instrument panel.
  8.  
  9. Install the two A/C-heater control retaining screws. Tighten the screws to 17 inch lbs. (2 N·m).
  10.  
  11. Install the center bezel onto the instrument panel.
  12.  
  13. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  14.  

Automatic Temperature Control (ATC)



  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the center bezel from the instrument panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the four screws that secure the A/C-heater control to the instrument panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the A/C-heater control from the instrument panel and using a pick or other small bladed tool, disengage the wire harness connector locks.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the wire harness connectors from the back of the A/C-heater control and remove the control from the vehicle.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Position the A/C-heater control to the instrument panel.
  2.  
  3. Connect the wire harness connectors to the back of the A/C-heater control and engage the connector locks. Make sure the connector locks are fully engaged.
  4.  
  5. Install the A/C-heater control into the instrument panel.
  6.  
  7. Install the four screws that secure the A/C-heater control to the instrument panel. Tighten the screws to 17 inch lbs. (2 N·m).
  8.  
  9. Install the instrument panel center bezel.
  10.  
  11. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  12.  
  13. If replacing the A/C-heater control, initiate the Actuator Calibration function using a scan tool
  14.  

Manual Temperature Control (MTC)



  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the center bezel from the instrument panel .
  4.  
  5. Remove the four screws that secure the A/C-heater control to the instrument panel.
  6.  
  7. Carefully pull the A/C-heater control straight out from the instrument panel.
  8.  
  9. Disengage the cable retaining tab and disconnect the blend door control cable from the rear of the A/C heater control.
  10.  
  11. Using a pick or other small bladed tool, disengage the wire harness connector lock.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the wire harness connectors from the back of the A/C-heater control and remove the control from the vehicle.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Position the A/C-heater control to the instrument panel.
  2.  
  3. Connect the wire harness connectors to the back of the A/C-heater control and engage the connector lock. Make sure the connector lock is fully engaged.
  4.  
  5. Connect the blend door cable to the rear of the A/C heater control and engage the cable retaining tab. If necessary, rotate the cable slightly to align the spline on the cable with the receptacle in the control. Make sure the retaining tab is fully engaged to the control.
  6.  
  7. Install the A/C-heater control into the instrument panel while simultaneously connecting the mode control cable to the mode door cam located at the rear of the HVAC housing. If necessary, rotate the cable slightly to align the spline on the cable with the receptacle in the cam.
  8.  
  9. Install the four screws that secure the A/C-heater control to the instrument panel. Tighten the screws to 17 inch lbs. (2 N·m).
  10.  
  11. Install the instrument panel center bezel.
  12.  
  13. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
  14.
