Removal & Installation



Instrument Panel
  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove radio.
  4.  
  5. Remove glove compartment.
  6.  
  7. Remove cup holder.
  8.  
  9. Remove instrument cluster.
  10.  
  11. Remove passenger airbag.
  12.  
  13. Remove right and left speakers.
  14.  
  15. Remove center bezel.
  16.  
  17. Remove air conditioning push-button control module.
  18.  
  19. Twist cover lock 1 / 4 turn and remove Power Distribution Center (PDC) cover.
  20.  
  21. Remove nut and screws and remove steering column shroud.
  22.  
  23. Remove PDC bolt, nut and nut for ground wire.
  24.  
  25. Disconnect PDC electrical connectors and remove.
  26.  
  27. Remove screws and remove passenger side air nozzle cover.
  28.  
  29. Remove screws and remove left side cover.

  33. Remove right side cover.

  35. Remove right outer and inner air nozzles.

  37. Remove protective matting from cluster location.
  38.  
  39. Remove instrument panel top cover screws and cover.
  40.  
  41. Remove vent hose.
  42.  
  43. Remove brake pedal spring.
  44.  
  45. Remove ignition transponder.
    CAUTION
    The position of the steering gear must not be altered again for the entire duration of the work procedure.

  47. Turn the steering wheel and lock the steering wheel in the straight ahead position.
  48.  
  49. Remove steering column support bolts.
  50.  
  51. Remove the screws and remove instrument panel.

To install:

  1. Install the instrument panel.
    NOTE
    The guides on the bottom of the instrument panel must engage in the cutouts on the left and right next to the heater housing.

  3. Route wire harness through the panel.
  4.  
  5. Install and tighten 12 instrument panel screws.
    CAUTION
    The position of the steering gear must not be altered.

  7. Raise steering column into position and install the bolts.
  8.  
  9. Tighten steering column bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install ignition transponder onto column lock.
    NOTE
    The dome on the transponder must engage into the groove on the ignition switch.

  13. Install brake pedal spring.
  14.  
  15. Install vent hose.
  16.  
  17. Install instrument panel top cover and screws.
  18.  
  19. Install right outer and inner air nozzles.

  21. Install right side cover and screws.
  22.  
  23. Wrap protective mat around connectors behind instrument cluster.
  24.  
  25. Install left outer and inner air nozzles.
  26.  
  27. Install left side cover and screws.
  28.  
  29. Install passenger side air nozzle cover and bracket and install the screws.
  30.  
  31. Position Power Distribution Center (PDC) in vehicle and connect electrical connectors.
  32.  
  33. Install PDC and install bolt and nut.
  34.  
  35. Install PDC ground cable and nut.
  36.  
  37. Install steering column shroud and install the two screws and one nut
  38.  
  39. Install PDC cover and twist lock 1 / 4 turn to secure in place.
  40.  
  41. Connect electrical connectors and cables to air conditioning push-button module and install.
  42.  
  43. Install center bezel.
  44.  
  45. Install left and right speakers.
  46.  
  47. Install passenger airbag.
  48.  
  49. Install instrument cluster.
  50.  
  51. Install cup holder.
  52.  
  53. Install glove compartment.
  54.  
  55. Install radio.
  56.  
  57. Connect battery negative cable.
  58.  

  1. Discharge the A/C system.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the headliner.
  6.  
  7. Remove steering column opening cover.
  8.  
  9. Remove the glove box.
  10.  
  11. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, separate the clips and remove the center bezel.
  12.  
  13. Remove the air outlet covers from the instrument panel center section.
  14.  
  15. Remove the cover on the gearshift lever.
  16.  
  17. Remove the gear shifter assembly.
  18.  
  19. Remove the side air nozzles.
  20.  
  21. Turn steering wheel to center position and lock steering.
  22.  
  23. Remove the steering wheel,
  24.  
  25. Disconnect all electrical connectors from wiring harness (2) in area of A-pillar and roof and remove the wiring harness.

  27. Disconnect all the electrical connectors from wiring harness (3) in passenger footwell.
  28.  
  29. Disconnect all electrical connectors (5) on instrument panel in driver footwell.
  30.  
  31. Disconnect the connections and lines of instrument panel in interior compartment.
  32.  
  33. Remove the air filter housing.
  34.  
  35. Disconnect connections and lines of instrument panel in engine compartment.
  36.  
  37. Remove the bolts (1) from firewall.
  38.  
  39. Remove the bolts (4).
  40.  
  41. Lift out instrument panel support with instrument panel.
  42.  

To install:

  1. Install the instrument panel.
  2.  
  3. Install the bolts and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 N·m).
  4.  
  5. Install the bolts and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 N·m).
  6.  
  7. Connect the lines of the instrument panel in the engine compartment.
  8.  
  9. Install the air filter housing.
  10.  
  11. Connect the lines of the instrument panel in the engine compartment.
  12.  
  13. Connect the electrical connectors (5) on instrument panel in driver footwell.
  14.  
  15. Connect all electrical connectors for the wiring harness (3) in passenger footwell.
  16.  
  17. Connect all the electrical connectors for the wiring harness (2) in the area of the A-pillar and roof and install the harness.
  18.  
  19. Install the steering wheel
  20.  
  21. Install the side air nozzles.
  22.  
  23. Install the shifter assembly.
  24.  
  25. Install the cover on the gearshift lever.
  26.  
  27. Install the air outlet covers from the instrument panel center section.
  28.  
  29. Install the center bezel and seat the clips fully.
  30.  
  31. Install the glove box.
  32.  
  33. Install the steering column opening cover.
  34.  
  35. Install the headliner.
  36.  
  37. Connect the battery.
  38.  
  39. Recharge the HVAC.
  40.  
  41. Check and fill coolant,
  42.
