2.7L & 3.0L Engines



  1. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to the following section, "Accessory Drive Belt, Removal & Installation.-

  3. Siphon as much power steering fluid as possible out of the reservoir.
  4.  
  5. Remove the pressure and supply line from the pump.
  6.  
  7. Remove the pump mounting bolts and remove the pump.
    NOTE
    If the pump is being replaced, transfer the front and rear pump brackets and pulley.

To install:

  1. Install the power steering pump to the vehicle and tighten the mounting bolts to:
    1. 3.0L Engine: 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
    2.  
    3. 2.7L Engine: 15 ft. lbs. (21 Nm).

  3. Connect the supply hose to the pump.
  4.  
  5. Install the pressure link to the pump and tighten the nut to 35 ft. lbs. (47 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the accessory drive belt.
  8.  
  9. Refill the power steering system to the correct level.
  10.  
  11. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  12.  

3.5L Engine



  1. Remove the accessory drive belt from the power steering pump. For additional information, refer to the following section, "Accessory Drive Belt, Removal & Installation.-
  2.  
  3. Remove the washer bottle mounting screws and disconnect the electrical connectors to relocate the bottle out of the way.
  4.  
  5. Siphon as much power steering fluid as possible out of the reservoir.
  6.  
  7. Remove the high pressure power steering hose at the pump.
  8.  
  9. Remove the supply hose from the pump.
  10.  
  11. Remove the bolts securing the power steering pump to the engine.
    NOTE
    If the pump is being replaced, transfer the front and rear pump brackets and pulley.

To install:

  1. Install the power steering pump to the engine and tighten the mounting bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (21 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Replace all O-rings and hose clamps.
  4.  
  5. Install the supply hose to the pump and tighten the clamp.
  6.  
  7. Install the high pressure hose to the pump and tighten to 28 ft. lbs. (38 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the accessory drive belt over the power steering pump pulley.
  10.  
  11. Refill the power steering system to the correct level.
  12.  
  13. Install the washer bottle mounting screws and connect the electrical connectors.
