Brake Pads

Removal & Installation



  1. Unscrew the cap from the brake fluid reservoir.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear wheel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wear indicator.
  8.  
  9. Remove the caliper guide pin bolts.
  10.  
  11. Remove the brake caliper from the caliper adapter.
    WARNING
    Support the caliper assembly. Do not let the caliper hang by the brake hose.

  13. Remove the retaining spring.
  14.  
  15. Remove the brake pads.

To install:

  1. Install the brake pads to the caliper.
  2.  
  3. Install the wear indicator and tighten the bolt to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the brake caliper to the brake caliper adapter. Tighten the guide pin bolts as follows:
    1. M8 bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
    2.  
    3. M10 bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
    4.  

  6.  
  7. Install the retaining spring.
  8.  
  9. Install the rear wheel.
  10.  
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12.  

Dual Rear Wheels
  1. Unscrew the cap from the brake fluid reservoir.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear wheels.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wear indicator cable from the wear indicator.
  8.  
  9. Remove the wear indicator from the brake caliper.
  10.  
  11. Compress the caliper piston.
  12.  
  13. Remove the upper brake caliper guide pin.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Install the retaining clips.
  2.  
  3. Install the wear indicator to the inboard brake pad.
  4.  
  5. Install the brake pads.
  6.  
  7. Rotate the brake caliper back up into position.
  8.  
  9. Install the wear indicator to the caliper. Tighten bolt (2) to 10 N·m (89 in. lbs.).
  10.  
  11. Install the wear indicator cable to the wear indicator.
    NOTE
    Do not install the brake hose twisted and ensure freedom of movement.

  13. Install the brake caliper pin to brake caliper adapter. Tighten the guide pins as follows:
    1. M8 bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
    2.  
    3. M10 bolts to 22 ft. lbs (30 Nm).
    4.

  15. Install the rear wheels.
  16.  
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18.  

Single Rear Wheels
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wear indicator.
  6.  
  7. Remove the caliper lower guide pin bolt and raise the caliper upward.
  8.  
  9. Remove the brake pads.
  10.  

  1. Install the brake pads to the caliper.
  2.  
  3. Install the wear indicator and tighten the bolt to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the brake caliper to the brake caliper adapter. Tighten the guide pin bolts as follows:
    1. M8 bolts to 24 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
    2.  
    3. M10 bolts to 48 ft. lbs. (65 Nm).
    4.  

  6.  
  7. Install the rear wheel.
  8.  
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10.
