Rear Window Wiper/Washer Systems

Removal & Installation



Wiper Motor
  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wiper arm and blade (1) from the rear wiper motor output shaft.

  5. Remove the lower trim panel (7) from the inside of the rear door.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the vehicle wire harness connector (2) from the rear wiper motor (5).
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the washer hose (3) from the fitting on the motor.
  10.  
  11. Remove the screw (6) that secures the motor to the inside of the rear door.
  12.  
  13. Remove the motor from the rear door.
  14.  
  15. Inspect the output shaft sealing grommet (4). Discard the grommet if it is in poor condition.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Install a new rear wiper motor output shaft sealing grommet (4) in the rear door, if necessary.
  2.  
  3. Position the rear wiper motor (5) into the rear door.
  4.  
  5. Install and tighten the screw (6) that secures the motor to the rear door. Tighten the screw to 5 ft. lbs. (7 N·m).
  6.  
  7. Reconnect the washer hose (3) to the fitting on the motor.
  8.  
  9. Reconnect the vehicle wire harness connector (2) to the motor.
  10.  
  11. Reinstall the lower trim panel (7) onto the inside of the rear door.
  12.  
  13. Reinstall the rear wiper arm and blade (1) onto the rear wiper motor output shaft.
  14.  
  15. Reconnect the battery negative cable
  16.  

Wiper Washer
  1. Lift the washer reservoir upward far enough to access and install the front washer pump/motor unit onto the inboard side of the reservoir.
  2.  
  3. Install a new rubber grommet seal/filter screen into the front washer pump/motor unit mounting hole in the washer reservoir. Always use a new rubber grommet seal on the reservoir.
  4.  
  5. Position the inlet nipple of the front washer pump/motor unit to the rubber grommet seal/filter screen in the reservoir.
  6.  
  7. Using hand pressure, press firmly and evenly downward on the washer pump/motor unit until the inlet nipple is fully seated in the rubber grommet seal/filter screen in the pump mounting hole of the reservoir.
  8.  
  9. Reconnect the front washer hose to the barbed outlet nipple of the washer pump.
  10.  
  11. Reconnect the vehicle wire harness connector to the connector receptacle on the top of the pump motor.
  12.  
  13. Position the washer reservoir mounting holes to the bracket on the top of the left front fender inner wheel house.
  14.  
  15. Install and tighten the two screws that secures the washer reservoir to the bracket. Tighten the screws securely.
  16.  
  17. Refill the washer reservoir with the washer fluid drained during removal.
  18.  
  19. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
  20.
