Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

On the SOHC engine, this sensor is located near the radiator hose and the engine insulator mount. The DOHC engine does not use a conventional TPS sensor. The sensor used is referred to as an electric throttle.

On 1998-2001vehicles equipped with the 2.2L engines, the sensor is located near the center of the engine by the air cleaner assembly. On the 1998-2001 vehicles, equipped with the 2.2L engine, the sensor is located near the center of the engine by the air cleaner assembly. On the 1998-2004 vehicles, equipped with the 2.5L SOHC engine, the sensor is located near the radiator hose and the engine insulator mount. On 2005 vehicles, equipped with the 2.5L SOHC engine and 2004-2005 vehicles, equipped with the 2.5L DOHC engine, the conventional TPS sensor is not used. The sensor used is referred to as an electric throttle.

On the 2.2L engine the sensor is located near the center of the engine by the air cleaner assembly. On the 1997-2004 vehicles, equipped with the 2.5L SOHC engine, the sensor is located near the radiator hose and the engine insulator mount. On 2005 vehicles, equipped with the 2.5L SOHC engine and 2004-2005 vehicles, equipped with the 2.5L DOHC engine, the conventional TPS sensor is not used. The sensor used is referred to as an electric throttle. On the 3.0L engine the sensor is located near the center of the engine by the air cleaner assembly.
