  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Engine from the vehicle
     
    Clutch assembly/flywheel using the Clutch Disc Guide tool 499747000, if equipped with a manual transmission
     
    Torque converter flexplate from the crankshaft, if equipped with an automatic transmission
     
    Oil seal from the cylinder block using a small prybar
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    New oil seal by pressing it into the cylinder block using the appropriate driver and hammer
     
    Flywheel housing using new gaskets and sealant where necessary.
     
    Flywheel and tighten the bolts to 50-54 ft. lbs. (69-75 Nm) on all models except 3.0L engines. On 3.0L engines tighten the bolts to 60 ft. lbs. (81 Nm).

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Engine from the vehicle.
     
    Clutch assembly/flywheel using the Clutch Disc Guide tool 499747000, if equipped with a manual transmission
     
    Torque converter flexplate from the crankshaft, if equipped with an automatic transmission
     
    Oil seal from the cylinder block using a small prybar
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    New oil seal by pressing it into the cylinder block using the appropriate driver
     
    Flywheel housing using new gaskets and sealant where necessary.
     
    Flywheel and tighten the bolts to 50-54 ft. lbs. (69-75 Nm).
     
    Engine

    New oil seal by pressing it into the cylinder block using the appropriate driver and hammer
     
    Flywheel housing using new gaskets and sealant where necessary.
     
    Flywheel and tighten the bolts to specification.
