Window Diagnosis & Testing
  1. Make sure that power window motor rotates properly when battery voltage is applied to terminals of motor connector.
  2.  
  3. Change polarity of battery connections to terminals to ensure that motor rotates in reverse direction.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. On vehicles without power windows, remove the window handle by removing the retaining clip. Slide a flat bladed tool between the handle and the door panel and press inward on the retainer spring clip.
  4.  
  5. Use a suitable prying tool and remove the remote handle cover.
  6.  
  7. Remove screws which hold gusset cover, and detach cover.
  8.  
  9. Remove screws which hold pull handle and other screws located further inside. On models with power windows, the window switches come off with the door panels.
  10.  
  11. Remove the clip attached to trim panel using a trim clip puller tool. Then remove the trim panel. The plastic sealing cover can be removed from the door at this time, if needed.
    NOTE
    When removing the trim panel, use care not to damage the panel or to tear it with the tools.

  13. Remove the remote assembly, if so equipped.
  14.  
  15. Remove the sealing cover.
  16.  
  17. Remove the rear view mirror from the door.
  18.  
  19. Remove the outer weatherstrip.
  20.  
  21. Remove the inner stabilizer.
  22.  
  23. Loosen the upper stopper bolt from the front of door and glass stoppers and move the door glass.
  24.  
  25. Remove the upper stopper from the rear of the door.
  26.  
  27. Remove the bolts which hold the glass holder to the regulator slider.
    NOTE
    When removing bolts on the regulator slider, move the glass to a position where the bolts can be seen through the service hole. Make the position and tightening allowance of upper stopper bolts before removal. This will make adjustment after installation easy.

  29. Open the door, hold the door glass with both hands and pull it straight up from the door panel.

  31. Remove the wire clip (manual type only).
  32.  
  33. Remove the regulator base plate and rail.
  34.  
  35. Remove the regulator assembly through the service hole in the underside of the door.
  36.  
  37. Disconnect the electrical connectors to the window motor. Unbolt the motor and remove it through the lower service hole in the underside of the door.
  38.  
  39. Replace any worn or broken parts. Lubricate all sliding parts and reinstall.
  40.  
  41. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the base plate mounting bolts 4-7 ft. lbs. (5-9 Nm) and the rail mounting nut 7-13 ft. lbs. (10-18 Nm).

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the inner remote cap.
  4.  
  5. Remove the screws that retain the trim panel to the door. You will have to lift the door pocket mat to get at 2 of the screws.
  6.  
  7. Carefully pry around the perimeter of the door and loosen the panel clips from the door.
  8.  
  9. As the door panel is coming off, disconnect the electrical leads from the panel.
    NOTE
    When removing the trim panel, use care not to damage the panel or to tear it with the tools.

  11. Remove the panel from the door.
  12.  
  13. Remove the remote assembly, if so equipped.
  14.  
  15. Remove the sealing cover.
  16.  
  17. Remove the rear view mirror from the door.
  18.  
  19. Remove the outer weatherstrip.

  21. Remove the inner stabilizer.

1998-2004 Models
  1. Completely close the door glass.
  2.  
  3. If not equipped with power windows, press the retainer spring behind the window crank handle with a thin flat-bladed screwdriver. Remove the window handle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the gusset cover.
  6.  
  7. Remove the three screws holding the door trim panel.
  8.  
  9. Using a suitable trim panel remover, disengage the trim panel clips.
  10.  
  11. Remove the trim panel and disconnect the power windows wiring harness.
  12.  
  13. Remove the speaker and remote assembly. Disconnect the wiring harnesses.
  14.  
  15. Remove the sealer with a spatula.
  16.  
  17. Remove the door handle.
  18.  
  19. Remove the inner stabilizer.
  20.  
  21. Remove the nut and then separate the glass holder from the guide channel.
    NOTE
    When removing the nut, move the door window lower glass connecting section to the service hole of the door panel.

  23. Remove the window glass up and out.
  24.  
  25. Remove the window motor and regulator assembly mounting bolt and guide channel nuts.
  26.  
  27. Remove the regulator assembly through the lower service hold of the door panel.
  28.  
  29. Installation is the reverse order of removal.

Window Switch
Removal & Installation
  1. Carefully pry the power window switch from the door trim panel.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the power window wiring harness.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
