Wiper Motor



Removal & Installation
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wiper arm.
  4.  
  5. At the wiper motor, disconnect the electrical harness.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wiper motor-to-cowl retainer bolts.
  8.  
  9. Find or fabricate a ring which has the same diameter as the outer diameter of the plastic joint that retains the linkage to the wiper motor. Force the ring down over the joint to force the 4 plastic retaining jaws inward, then disconnect and remove the linkage.
  10.  
  11. Remove the wiper motor.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal. Secure the cowl bolts to 39-65 inch lbs. (4-7 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Connect the negative battery cable. Check for proper wiper operation.

  1. Detach the weatherstripping and remove the cowl panel.
    NOTE
    Apply silicone oil or soap water to both sides of cowl net to assist with the removal.

  2.  
  3. Disconnect the wiring harness of the wiper motor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the mounting bolts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wiper linkage from the back side of the wiper motor using a suitable pry tool inserted into the service hole in the front panel.
  8.  
  9. Remove the wiper motor.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse order of removal. Tighten the motor mounting bolts to 4 ft. lbs. (6 Nm).

  1. Remove the cowl panel.
    NOTE
    Apply silicone oil or soap water to both sides of cowl net to assist with the removal.

  3. Disconnect the wiring harness of the wiper motor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the mounting bolts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wiper motor.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse order of removal. Tighten the motor mounting bolts to 4 ft. lbs. (6 Nm).
  10.  

  1. Detach the weatherstripping and remove the cowl panel.
    NOTE
    Apply silicone oil or soap water to both sides of cowl net to assist with the removal.

  2.  
  3. Disconnect the wiring harness of the wiper motor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the mounting bolts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the nut securing the linkage on the back side of the motor.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse order of removal. Tighten the motor mounting bolts to 4 ft. lbs. (6 Nm).

  11. Remove the wiper head cover.
  12.  
  13. Remove the nut and wiper arm.
  14.  
  15. Remove the cap and special nut.
  16.  
  17. Remove the rear liftgate trim.
  18.  
  19. Undo the clips which secure the wiring harness, and disconnect the wiper motor wiring harness.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the washer hoses.
  22.  
  23. Remove the mounting screws and remove the motor assembly.
  24.  
  25. Installation is the reverse order of removal. Tighten the motor mounting bolts to 4 ft. lbs. (6 Nm).
  26.  

  1. Remove the cowl panel.
    NOTE
    Apply silicone oil or soap water to both sides of cowl net to assist with the removal.

  2.  
  3. Disconnect the wiring harness of the wiper motor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the mounting bolts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wiper motor.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  
  11. To confirm that the motor is at the auto stop position, connect the wiring harness to the motor and turn the wiper switch ON and then OFF once.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  14.  
  15. Installation is the reverse order of removal. Tighten the motor mounting bolts to 4 ft. lbs. (6 Nm).
  16.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the cowl panel.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the wiring harness of the wiper motor.
  6.  
  7. Loosen the bolts to remove the wiper linkage.
  8.  
  9. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the wiper motor.

To install:

  1. Connect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. To confirm that the motor is at the auto stop position, connect the wiring harness to the motor and turn the wiper switch ON and then OFF once.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. The remainder of the installation is the reverse order of removal.
  8.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the cowl panel.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the wiring harness of the wiper motor.
  6.  
  7. Loosen the bolts to remove the wiper linkage.
  8.  
  9. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the wiper motor.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
