REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Steering Column control Switch

The cruise control switches in all models are mounted on a stalk on the steering column combination switch assembly. Refer to the combination switch removal and installation procedure in Suspension & Steering for details.

Brake Switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the driver side lower trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Unfasten the brake switch harness connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the lock nut and unscrew the switch.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Screw the switch into position on the bracket, and install the lock nut. Do not tighten the locknut until an adjustment is made.
  2.  
  3. Adjust the switch by turning the switch clockwise until tip of the screw portion of the brake pedal hits the pedal arm.
  4.  
  5. Turn the switch counterclockwise unit the clearance is about 0.02-0.04 in. (0.5-1.0mm).
  6.  
  7. Tighten the locknut and install the harness.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. Test the cruise control system.
  10.  

Clutch Switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the clutch switch wire harness.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lock nut and unscrew the switch.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Screw the switch into position, and install the locknut. Do not tighten the nut until the switch is adjusted.
  2.  
  3. Push the switch by hand until the pushrod cannot be seen from the tip of the switch.
  4.  
  5. Give the switch 1 reverse rotation turn and tighten the locknut.
  6.  
  7. Install the wire harness.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  
  11. Test the cruise control system.
  12.
