Fuel Pressure Regulator

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the fuel line from the regulator.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 2 screws securing the pressure regulator to the venturi chamber.
  8.  
  9. Pull the pressure regulator upward to remove.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Install the pressure regulator and tighten the screws securely.
  2.  
  3. Connect the fuel line to the regulator, and tighten the hose clamp.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
  8.  

TESTING



  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel delivery pipe of the throttle chamber, then install a suitable fuel gauge.
  4.  

Before disconnecting the fuel hose, disconnect the fuel pump connector and crank the engine for approximately 5 seconds to release the pressure in the fuel system. If the engine starts, let it run until it stops.

  1. Measure fuel pressure with the engine idling. The fuel gauge should read 20-24 psi (136-163 kPa). If not within specification, replace the pressure regulator.
