Wheel Speed Sensor Rotors (Toothed Rings)

Removal & Installation



Front
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front tire.
  4.  
  5. Remove the speed sensor. Refer to -Speed Sensors, Removal & Installation-.
  6.  
  7. Remove the caliper assembly and rotor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front axle shaft, steering knuckle and hub assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the tone wheel while removing the hub from the steering knuckle assembly.
  12.  
  13. Visually check the tone ring teeth for crack or dents. If necessary, replace the tone ring with a new one.
  14.  
  15. Installation is the reverse order of assembly.
  16.  

Rear
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear tire.
  4.  
  5. Remove the speed sensor. Refer to -Speed Sensors, Removal & Installation-.
  6.  
  7. Remove the rear tone ring while removing the hub from the housing and hub assembly.
    CAUTION
    Be careful not to damage pole piece located at tip of the sensor and teeth faces during removal.


    CAUTION
    Do not pull sensor harness during removal.

  9. Installation is the reverse order of removal.
