Removal & Installation



Front
  1. Disconnect front ABS sensor connector located in engine compartment.
  2.  
  3. Remove bolts which secure sensor harness to strut.
  4.  
  5. Remove bolts which secure sensor harness to body.
  6.  
  7. Remove bolts which secure front ABS sensor to housing, and remove front ABS sensor.
    CAUTION
    Be careful not to damage pole piece located at tip of the sensor and teeth faces during removal.


    CAUTION
    Do not pull sensor harness during removal.

  9. Installation is the reverse order of assembly.
  10.  
  11. Place a thickness gauge between the ABS sensor-s and tone wheel-s tooth face. Standard clearance should be as follows:
    1. 1998-2000 Models: 0.035-0.055 in. (0.9-1.4 mm)
    2.  
    3. 2001-05 Models: 0.012-0.031 in. (0.3-0.8 mm).

  13. Once clearance is obtained over the entire perimeter, tighten the ABS sensor on housing to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).

Rear
  1. Remove the rear seat and disconnect the sensor electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear sensor harness bracket from the rear trailing link and bracket.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear sensor from the rear backing plate.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse order of assembly.
  8.  
  9. Place a thickness gauge between the ABS sensor-s and tone wheel-s tooth face. Standard clearance should be as follows:
    1. 1998-2002 Models: 0.012-0.031 in. (0.3-0.8 mm).
    2.  
    3. 2003-05 Models: 0.028-0.047 in. (0.7-1.2 mm).

  11. Once clearance is obtained over the entire perimeter, tighten the ABS sensor on housing to 24 ft. lbs.
