Front Shaft



Inboard Joint
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel(s)
     
    Halfshaft and place in vise
     
    Boot bands and slide boot down
     
    Circlip from CV-joint outer race
     
    Outer race from shaft, wipe off all grease
     

  4.  
  5. Matchmark Tri-pot spider assembly for reassembly.

    Snapring and Tri-pot
     
    CV-joint boot

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    CV-joint boot and fill with 1.06-1.41 oz. of grease
     
    Tri-pot spider assembly and snapring
     
    Outer race, fill with 3.53-3.88 oz. of grease
     
    Circlip to CV-joint outer race
     

  2.  
  3. Slide boot onto outer race
  4.  
  5. New band on the boot
  6.  

Outboard Joint

The outer boot is the only thing that is replaceable the outer CV-joint is not disassembled.

Rear Halfshaft



Inner
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front wheel(s)
     
    Half shaft and place in vise
     
    Boot bands and slide boot down
     
    Circlip from CV- joint outer race
     
    Outer race from shaft, wipe off all grease
     
    6 balls
     
    Snapring and inner race
     
    Cage from the shaft
     
    CV boot

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    CV-joint boot and fill with 2.12-2.47 oz. of grease
     
    Cage to the shaft with the cut out portion facing the shaft end
     
    Inner race and snapring
     

  2.  
  3. Install the cage to the inner race.
  4.  


NOTE
Fit the cage with the protruded part aligned with the track on the inner race then turn by a half pitch.

  1. Install the outer race and snapring; then, fill with 2.82-3.17 oz. of grease
  2.  
  3. Coat the cage pockets with grease.
  4.  
  5. Install or connect the following:

    6 balls into cage, align the inner race and cage
     
    Outer race and circlip
     

  6.  
  7. Slide boot on to outer race
  8.  
  9. New band on the boot
  10.  

Outer

The outer boot is the only thing that is replaceable the outer CV-joint is not disassembled.
