Fuel Injectors

Removal & Installation



Left Hand Side
DOHC Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the intake manifold.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the connector from the injector.
  10.  
  11. Remove the retaining screw and the injector.
  12.  

To install:


NOTE
Replace the injector O-rings, coat the rings with clean engine oil prior to installation.

  1. Install the injector and the retaining screw
  2.  
  3. Connect the injector connector.
  4.  
  5. Install the intake manifold.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  

SOHC Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Air duct and cleaner assembly
     
    Resonator chamber
     
    Two bolts that attach the washer reservoir to the body
     
    Connector from the front window washer motor
     
    Rear window washer hose from the motor and plug the line
     
    Washer reservoir and secure it to one side
     
    Spark plug wires No. 2 and 4
     
    Left hand fuel pipe connector
     
    Wires from fuel injector
     
    Injector pipe from intake manifold
     
    Fuel injector
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Fuel injector
     
    Injector pipe to intake manifold
     
    Wires to fuel injector
     
    Spark plug wires No. 2 and 4
     
    Washer reservoir
     
    Rear window washer hose to the motor
     
    Connector to the front window washer motor
     
    Two bolts that attach the washer reservoir to the body
     
    Resonator camber
     
    Air duct and cleaner assembly
     
    Negative battery cable

Right Hand Side
DOHC Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the right hand fuel pipe protector.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the connector from the injector.
  10.  
  11. Remove the retaining screw and the injector.
  12.

To install:


NOTE

  5. Install the right hand fuel pipe protector.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.

  2.  
  3. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Air duct and cleaner assembly
     
    Resonator chamber
     
    Spark plug wires No. 1 and 3
     
    V-belt covers
     
    Power steering pump belt
     
    Power steering pipe bracket from manifold
     
    Power steering pump and set aside
     
    Fuel pipe protector, if equipped
     
    Wires from fuel injector
     
    Injector pipe from intake manifold
     
    Fuel injector
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Fuel injector
     
    Injector pipe to intake manifold
     
    Wires to fuel injector
     
    Fuel pipe protector, if equipped
     
    Power steering pump
     
    Power steering pipe bracket to manifold
     
    Power steering pump belt
     
    V-belt covers
     
    Spark plug wires No. 1 and 3
     
    Resonator camber
     
    Air duct and cleaner assembly
     
    Negative battery cable
