Bushing Replacement



  1. Remove the control arm from the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Scribe a matchmark on the control arm and rear bushing.
  4.  
  5. Loosen the nut and remove the rear bushing. Discard the nut.
  6.  
  7. Install the rear bushing to the control arm, making sure to align the marks made during removal.
  8.  
  9. Install a new nut.
  10.  

Removal & Installation



Lateral Link
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the rear wheel nuts.
  4.  
  5. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  6.  
  7. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the stabilizer.
  10.  
  11. Remove the ABS sensor harness from the trailing link.
  12.  
  13. Remove the bolt securing the trailing link to the housing.
  14.  
  15. Remove the bolts that secure the lateral link assembly to the rear housing.
  16.  
  17. Remove the DOJ from the rear differential using tool St28099PA100.
    NOTE
    Be careful not to damage the side bearing retainer, with the tool.

  18.  
  19. Scribe an alignment mark on the rear lateral link adjusting bolt and crossmember.
  20.  
  21. Remove the bolts securing the front and rear lateral links to the crossmember, detach the lateral links.
    NOTE
    To loosen the adjusting bolt, always loosen the nut while holding the head of the adjusting bolt.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Be sure to use new bolts and nuts, as required.
  4.  
  5. Always fully tighten the rubber bushings when the wheels are in full contact with the ground and the vehicle is at curb height.
  6.  
  7. Check and adjust the wheel alignment, as necessary.
  8.  

Trailing Link
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the rear wheel nuts.
  4.  
  5. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  6.  
  7. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rear parking brake clamp and the ABS sensor harness.
  10.  
  11. Remove the bolt securing the trailing link to the trailing bracket.
  12.  
  13. Remove the bolt securing the trailing link to the rear housing.
  14.  
  15. Remove the trailing link from the vehicle.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Be sure to use new locknuts, as required.
  4.  
  5. Always fully tighten the rubber bushings when the wheels are in full contact with the ground and the vehicle is at curb height.
  6.  
  7. Check and adjust the rear wheel alignment, as required.
