Upper Control Arms

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the wheel nuts.
  4.  
  5. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  6.  
  7. Remove the tire and wheel.
  8.  
  9. As required, support the assembly before removing the upper control arm.
  10.  
  11. Remove the bolts. Remove the upper control arm from the vehicle.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Be sure to use new bolts and nuts, as required.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the upper arm to rear sub frame retaining bolts to 111 ft. lbs (150 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Tighten the upper arm to rear housing retaining bolts to 89 ft. lbs (120 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Always fully tighten the rubber bushings when the wheels are in full contact with the ground and the vehicle is at curb height.
  10.  
  11. Check and adjust the wheel alignment, as necessary.
