Upper Control Arm

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



ff-1 and 1300G
  1. Remove the wheel cover and loosen the lug nuts.
  2.  
  3. Raise the car and support it with jackstands. Block the rear wheels.
  4.  


CAUTION
Be sure that the car is securely supported.

  1. Remove the lug nuts and wheels.
  2.  
  3. Remove the end bolt on the ride height adjusting cam, in order to loosen the cam.
  4.  
  5. Remove the two nuts and washers from the shock absorber upper mounting stud.
  6.  
  7. Straighten out the lockwasher on the upper ball joint securing nut and remove the nut.
  8.  
  9. Remove the dust cover and the locknut from the upper arm.
  10.  
  11. Push the upper control arm downward, in order to release the tension from the torsion bar.
  12.  
  13. Pull on the upper anchor arm in order to disengage the upper control arm from the torsion bar. Remove the control arm.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Install the upper control arm to the torsion bar.
  2.  
  3. Install the dust cover and lock nut to the upper control arm.
  4.  
  5. Install the upper ball joint securing nut and lock washer.
  6.  
  7. Install the retaining nuts and washers to the upper mounting stud of the shock absorber.
  8.  
  9. Install the end bolt to the ride height adjusting cam and tighten the bolt securely.
  10.  
  11. Install the wheels, lug nuts and wheel cover.
  12.  
  13. Lower the vehicle. Adjust the ride height as detailed in this section, after installation is completed.
