Power Mirrors



Diagnosis & Testing
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove power mirror switch.
  4.  
  5. Inspect terminal for poor connections, loose wires, bent, broken, or corroded pins, and then verify that the connector is securely fastened.
  6.  
  7. Check for battery voltage at the lead wire of connection to the power mirror switch.
    1. If battery voltage is absent, check the fuse for the power mirror.
    2.  
    3. If battery voltage is present, check through the switch for power delivery.
    4.  
    5. Replace switch if faulty.
    6.

Mirror Motor (Actuator)
  1. Remove door trim.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect door mirror coupler (1).
  4.  
  5. Check that door mirror operates properly when battery voltage is applied to connector terminals.
  6.  
  7. Connect battery positive (+) and negative (-) terminal to the door mirror terminal as shown.
  8.  

If it does not follow the table-s operation, replace door mirror assembly.

Mirror Switch
  1. Remove mirror switch from door trim.
  2.  
  3. Check for continuity between terminals at each switch position. If check result is not as specified, replace door mirror switch.

Removal & Installation
Motor
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Disconnect the negative battery cable.
     
    The mirror inside cover trim
     
    The door panel
     
    The electrical connector to mirror motor
     
    The nut attaching mirror assembly to door frame
     
    The outside rear view mirror

  4.  
  5. Remove the mirror glass:
    1. Fold the mirror glass forwards and inwards as illustrated.
    2.  
    3. Grasp and pull the mirror glass lengthways until it releases.
    4.  
    5. Work the glass out.
    6.  

  6.  
  7. Remove electric motor:
    1. Remove the 3 screws from behind the mirrored glass.
    2.  
    3. Separate the connectors
      NOTE
      Remember the positions of the connectors.

    4.  
    5. Remove the mirror motor.

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    The electric motor
     
    The electrical connections
     
    The 3 screws that go behind the mirror
     
    Install the terminal pins
     
    Fold out the mirror mounting on the motor
     
    Hook the mirror glass into the inner mounting
     
    Press the mirror glass into place.
     
    Place mirror in position in door

  3. Install or connect the following:

    The nut attaching mirror assembly to door frame
     
    The connector
     
    The door panel
     
    The mirror inside cover trim
     
    The negative battery cable

Switch
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Disconnect the negative battery cable.
     
    The door panel
     
    The electrical connector to mirror switch
     
    Release the catches. Press the switch up and off
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal procedure.
