A/C Cooling Relay Control Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



Condenser relay control circuit is open
 
Condenser fan relay control circuit is shorted to ground
 
Condenser fan relay power circuit is open (check relay fuse)
 
Radiator fan relay is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0500



Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



VSS signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
VSS ground circuit is open
 
VSS signal circuit from Combo Meter open or shorted to ground
 
VSS is damaged or has failed (drive gear may be damaged)
 
PCM has failed
 
TSB TS4-23 (6/96) contains information related to this code

Idle Speed Control System

Possible Causes:



IAC valve control circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
IAC valve power circuit is open (check power from the relay)
 
IAC valve ground circuit is open
 
IAC valve is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0506



Idle Speed Control System Lower Than Expected

Possible Causes:



IAC valve control circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
IAC valve power circuit is open (intermittent fault)
 
IAC valve ground circuit is open (intermittent fault)
 
Throttle plate is carbon fouled (it may need to be cleaned)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0507



Idle Speed Control System Higher Than Expected

Possible Causes:



IAC valve control circuit is open (intermittent fault)
 
IAC valve power circuit is open (intermittent fault)
 
IAC valve ground circuit is open (intermittent fault)
 
Throttle plate is carbon fouled (it may need to be cleaned)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0601



PCM Memory Check Sum Error

Possible Causes:



Clear the trouble code, and recheck for the same code.
 
If this trouble code resets, the PCM must be replaced

PCM EEPROM Memory Error

Possible Causes:



The contents of the EEPROM have changed
 
Clear the trouble codes, and recheck for the same code. If the same code resets, the PCM has failed.

Possible Causes:



TR range switch signal is open
 
TR range switch signal shorted to another switch position signal
 
TR range switch is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed

ISS signal (+) circuit is open or shorted to ground

PCM has failed

Pressure Control Solenoid Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



Pressure controls solenoid connector is damaged or loose
 
Pressure control solenoid control circuit is open or shorted
 
PCS is damaged (solenoid resistance is 3-7 ohms at 68ºF)
 
TCM has failed

SSA is stuck in "off" position (mechanical problem)

Backup power supply circuit is open (check the Dome fuse)

TCM Internal Module Memory Check Sum Error

Possible Causes:



Clear the trouble code, and recheck for the same code. If this same trouble code resets, substitute a known good TCM and then retest for the same code. If the same code does not reset, the original TCM is damaged or has failed.

TCM ECT Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



ECT sensor data circuit is open between the PCM and TCM
 
ECT sensor data circuit is shorted to ground
 
ECT sensor data circuit is shorted to VREF or system power
 
PCM or TCM has failed

Possible Causes:



TCM data circuit to the PCM is open or shorted to ground
