On-Vehicle Inspection

1.3L Engine

Before this check, prepare 2 new 1.5V batteries and an analog type ohmmeter.

  1. Remove power unit (igniter) from its bracket.
  2.
  3. Arrange 2 new 1.5V batteries in series (check that total voltage is about 3V).
  4.
  5. Connect positive terminal of ohmmeter to -G- terminal of power unit and negative terminal to -OC- terminal.

  6.
  7. Check continuity between -G- and -OC- terminals with about 3V applied to its -IB- terminal and also none applied.
  8.
  9. Check for the following results:

No voltage applied to -IB- terminal: No continuity (infinity)

Voltage applied to -IB- terminal: Continuity

  10.
  11. If check result is not satisfactory, replace power unit.
  12.
  13. Install power unit.
  14.
