Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 2 caliper mounting bolts and then remove the caliper from the caliper carrier.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake pads.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Install the pads into the caliper carrier.
  2.  
  3. On front calipers, press the caliper piston back into the caliper.
  4.  
  5. On rear calipers, use a piston installer 09945-16030, to rotate the caliper piston clockwise into the caliper bore. Lubricate the piston boot with silicone grease to avoid twisting the piston boot.
  6.  
  7. Install the caliper assembly to the caliper carrier. Tighten the bolts to 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-32 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the wheels.
  10.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.

  3. Remove the wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 2 caliper mounting bolts and then remove the caliper from the caliper carrier.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake pads.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Install the pads into the caliper carrier.
  2.  
  3. Press the caliper piston back into the caliper, using a piston compressor tool.
  4.  
  5. Install the caliper assembly to the caliper carrier. Tighten the mounting bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm) for Esteem, and 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm) for Swift.
  6.  
  7. Install the wheels.
  8.
