Removal & Installation
To avoid the danger of being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is hot. Service should be performed only after the system cools down.
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove or disconnect the following:
Heated Oxygen (HO2) sensor connector
Exhaust manifold heat shield bolts and exhaust manifold heat shield
Exhaust flex pipe retaining nuts from exhaust manifold studs
Exhaust manifold retaining nuts in the sequence shown
Exhaust manifold and gasket
Clean the sealing surfaces of the exhaust manifold and the cylinder head.

Install or connect the following:
New exhaust manifold gasket
Exhaust manifold and retaining nuts. Tighten the exhaust manifold retaining nuts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm) in the sequence shown.
Exhaust flex pipe retaining nuts to the exhaust manifold studs and tighten to 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm)
Exhaust manifold heat shield and tighten the bolts to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm)
O2 sensor connector
Connect the negative battery cable.
Run the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
