Oil Pan

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Drain engine oil by removing drain plug.
  6.  
  7. Remove exhaust front pipe.
  8.  
  9. Remove the oil pan flange-to-transaxle retaining bolts.
  10.  
  11. Remove the transaxle-to-oil pan flange retaining bolt.
  12.  
  13. Remove transaxle rear mount bracket.

  15. Remove the lower reaction rod.
  16.  
  17. Remove the oil pan retaining bolts.
  18.  
  19. Remove the oil pan from the cylinder block.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Coat the new oil pan gasket with sealant.
  2.  
  3. Install the oil pan within 5 minutes after applying the liquid gasket to the oil pan.
  4.  
  5. Install the oil pan to the cylinder block.
  6.  
  7. Install the oil pan retaining bolts and tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the oil pan flange-to-transaxle retaining bolts and tighten to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the transaxle-to-oil pan flange retaining bolt and tighten to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Install transaxle rear mount bracket.
  14.  
  15. Install the lower reaction rod and bolts. Tighten the lower reaction rod bolts to 49 ft. lbs. (69 Nm).
  16.  
  17. Install exhaust front pipe and tighten the retaining nuts to 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm).
  18.  
  19. Refill the engine with oil.
  20.  
  21. Connect the negative battery cable.
  22.  
  23. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  24.
