Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Drain the engine oil.
  6.  
  7. Remove the timing belt.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rear timing belt cover.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.
  12.  
  13. Remove the oil pan.
  14.  
  15. Remove the oil suction pipe and support bracket bolts.
  16.  
  17. Remove the oil suction pipe.
  18.  
  19. Remove the oil pump retaining bolts.
  20.  
  21. Carefully separate the oil pump and gasket from the engine block and oil pan.
  22.  
  23. Remove the oil pump.

To install:

  1. Apply Loctite® 242 to the oil pump bolts and Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) sealant to the new oil pump gasket.
  2.  
  3. Install the gasket to the oil pump and install the oil pump to the engine block with the bolts and tighten to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install a new oil pump-to-crankshaft seal. Coat the lip of the seal with a thin coat of grease.
  6.  
  7. Coat the threads of the oil suction pipe and support bracket bolts with Loctite® 242.
  8.  
  9. Install the oil suction pipe and the bolts. Tighten the oil suction pipe bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm) and support bracket bolts to 53 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the oil pan.
  12.  
  13. Connect the oil pressure switch connector.
  14.  
  15. Install the rear timing belt cover.
  16.  
  17. Install the timing belt.
  18.  
  19. Refill engine with engine oil.
  20.  
  21. Connect the negative battery cable.
  22.  
  23. Start the engine and check the engine oil pressure.
  24.  
  25. Check that no leaks are present.
