Chassis Greasing

Chassis greasing should be performed every 12 months or 12,000 miles (19,000 km) for most cars. Greasing can be performed with a commercial pressurized grease gun or at home by using a hand-operated grease gun. Wipe the grease fittings clean before greasing in order to prevent the possibility of forcing any dirt into the component.

There are far less grease points on the modern automotive chassis than there were on cars of yesteryear. The front suspension components and driveshaft U-joints should be checked for grease fittings, and, if equipped, periodically lubricated.

A water resistant long life generic chassis grease should be used for all chassis greasing applications.
