BLEEDING

  1. Apply the parking brake, block the rear wheels, then raise and support the vehicle safely.
  2.
  3. Fill the power steering reservoir to the specified level.
  4.
  5. Run the engine for 3-5 minutes, stop the engine and add fluid if necessary to reach specified level.
  6.
  7. With the engine stopped, turn the steering wheel to the left and to the right as far as it turns. Repeat a few times and refill the reservoir.
  8.
  9. With the engine running at idle speed, bleed the air from the system by loosening the bleeder valve at the gear assembly.
  10.
  11. Repeat the side-to-side turning of the steering wheel until all the foam is gone.
  12.
  13. Tighten the bleed valve securely. Recheck the fluid level in the reservoir.
  14.

When air bleeding is not complete, it is indicated by a foaming fluid on the level indicator or a humming noise from the power steering pump.
