Oil Pressure Sensor

Removal & Installation



1.6L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect wire from oil pressure sensor.
  4.  
  5. Remove oil pressure sensor from cylinder block.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Before reinstalling oil pressure sensor, be sure to wrap its screw threads with sealing tape and tighten switch to 10.5 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Reconnect wire to oil pressure sensor.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Start engine and check oil pressure switch for oil leakage.
  8.  

2.0L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove exhaust manifold cover.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect wire from oil pressure sensor.
  6.  
  7. Remove oil pressure sensor from cylinder block.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Before reinstalling oil pressure sensor, be sure to wrap its screw threads with sealing tape and tighten switch to 10.5 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Reconnect wire to oil pressure sensor.
  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Start engine and check oil pressure switch for oil leakage.
  8.  

2.5L & 2.7L Engines
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Recover the refrigerant.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect suction hose and discharge hose from A/C compressor.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect wire from oil pressure sensor.
  8.  
  9. Remove oil pressure switch from cylinder block.

To install:

  1. Before reinstalling oil pressure sensor, be sure to wrap its screw threads with sealing tape and tighten switch to 9.5 ft. lbs. (13 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Reconnect wire to oil pressure sensor.
  4.  
  5. Connect suction hose and discharge hose to A/C compressor.
  6.  
  7. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  
  11. Start engine and check oil pressure switch for oil leakage.
  12.  

Testing



Inspect oil pressure sensor for signs of oil leaks, and a poor or damaged electrical connector.

  1. Scan, record and reset any Diagnostic Trouble Codes present.
