NOTE
On this model, a centering bolt is used as the hood hinge set bolt; the hood cannot be adjusted with it on. Substitute a bolt with a washer for the centering bolt.

  1. For forward/rearward and left/right adjustments, loosen the hinge bolts and move the hood the desired position.

  3. For vertical adjustment of the front edge of the hood, turn the cushions.

  5. Adjust the hood lock if necessary by removing the grille, loosening the bolts, then repositioning. Then, Install the grille.

Removal & Installation

CAUTION
On models equipped with an air bag (SRS), work must NOT be started until at least 90 seconds have passed from the time that both the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative cable is disconnected from the battery.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Protect the painted areas such as the fenders with a cover.
  4.  
  5. Matchmark the position of the hinges on the hood. Loosen the hinge-to-hood retaining bolts.

  7. With the aid of an assistant remove the retaining bolts, then lift the hood away from the car. Use care not to damage the hood or vehicle during removal.

To install:

  1. Carefully Install the hood on the vehicle and loosely Install the bolts.
  2.  
  3. Align the matchmarks, then tighten the bolts.
  4.  
  5. Close the hood slowly to check for proper alignment. Do not slam the hood closed, alignment is usually required.
  6.  
  7. Align the hood so that all clearances are the same and the hood panel is flush with the body.
